How did I get here?
- GCSEs and A Levels
- Queens Degree in Computer Science and Programming
- Software Tester: Junior, Graduate, levels 1, 2, 3, Senior Supervisor, Team Lead and now Engineering Manager
What do I do?
- Manage Software Engineers who write and code the software
- Manage Software Test Engineers who try to break this code
- Manage Graphic Designers who make the software easy to use
- Ensure everyone is trained properly and managing their work
What is good about my job?
- We help big customers like football clubs and airlines
- My confidence levels – I am a quiet person but can now talk in front of groups
What soft skills are important in my job?
- Teamwork and taking responsibility for your own work
- Problem solving
- Having a good work ethic and helping out when you can
My one piece of advice to school students:
Never be afraid to ask questions, there is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to learning something new, only stupid answers.
What I wanted to be at age 11?
It changed every week between a Fireman, Soldier, Astronaut, Pilot, Police Officer, Detective and a Dinosaur.
